The Brief
Todd engaged Yarrington Construction to renovate a historic farmhouse in Central Victoria. The home had strong foundations and character, but it no longer reflected how the family wanted to live. Todd was clear about what he wanted from the beginning – a comfortable, well-finished home, delivered without the stress of managing multiple trades or consultants.
He was looking for a single building partner who could take responsibility for the process end-to-end and deliver a quality result.
The Challenge
Renovating a historic farmhouse requires balance to ensure the existing character is respected, but modern functionality is seamlessly introduced. The goal was to improve the overall flow of the home.
Todd had already selected an architect, however the project required close collaboration, practical design input and disciplined project management to ensure the renovation stayed on track – particularly during an uncertain period across the construction industry.
The Build
Yarrington Construction worked closely with Todd and his architect, contributing practical refinements to improve buildability, liveability and finish quality. Our role extended beyond construction alone – managing the full scope of works and coordinating all trades through to handover.
Key elements of the renovation included:
- Reworking the internal layout of the property to improve flow and usability
- Integrating custom shelving and skylights to enhance light and storage
- Maintaining the architectural integrity of the original farmhouse
- Managing the entire project, from early planning through to completion
Every decision was guided by durability, detail and long term performance.
The Result
After nine months, the renovation was completed and handed over on 23rd December 2020 – exactly as scheduled and just in time for Christmas with family.
The finished home delivers more than visual impact. Years later, it continues to perform as intended with no defects or warranty issues raised. The home feels considered, comfortable and tailored to the way Todd’s family live.
